5 Films I Refuse To Grow Out Of

1. The Princess Diaries
One of my go-to feel good films. It has so much innocence to it and, at risk of making myself sound really old, it really reminds me of a simpler time. Being aimed at the pre-teen age group, it makes a refreshing change from a lot of teen movies now that mostly seem to centre around who is seeing/sleeping with who. Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews are both absolutely wonderful and I just love the story.

2. Anastasia
I watched this film again the other day and I still love it every bit as much as I did when I watched it the first time. I love the characters, the songs and I never get tired of watching Anya and Dimitri fall for each over. You show me a girl who says she doesn't have even the teeniest crush on Dimitri and I will show you a fibber. He's pretty dreamy for a cartoon, no?

3. Labyrinth
'You remind me of the babe...' Labyrinth was shown all the time on Nickelodeon while I was growing up and I watched it so many times. It really captured my imagination and I never got tired of it, even if it did scare me a little bit in places! There are exceptions to this, but it's sad to see that they don't seem to make that many of these kind of films for children any more that are so full of imagination and adventure. I love all the characters (even Hoggle!) and I often find myself singing Magic Dance to myself!

4. 10 Things I Hate About You
Heath Ledger - check. Baby Joseph Gordon-Levitt - check. Great soundtrack - check. I've watched this so many times that when I saw it on E4 last week, I could tell all the places they had blanked out the swear words. Sad? Maybe, but I absolutely love it. I can't put my finger on exactly what it is about this film that makes it one of my all time favourites, although Heath Ledger singing Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You is definitely a contributing factor. It's funny, the songs are catchy, and you can't help but love the characters.

5. Disney ANYTHING.
This may technically be classed as cheating but I can't pick just one! Even though I recently turned 24, I make absolutely no apologies for my love of Disney and I'm a firm believer that you never get too old for a Disney film. They collectively defined my childhood and they never fail to make me smile. I was actually so happy to be in Disney World in September that I very nearly burst into tears on several occasions. They just do it all so right, and I think there are few things in life that can't be cheered by a Disney sing-a-long!

  3. I agree with all of these, apart from Labyrinth, which I have never seen. I would also add Dirty Dancing, 27 dresses, when harry met sally and you've got mail to the list. I can watch those over and over again :)

  4. Is there anything more wonderful than that last image?! I think my eyes actually lit up when I scrolled down to it - you know you're about to watch an incredible film when you see that castle and hear the song!

Anastasia is an INCREDIBLE film! I am actually so happy to hear someone else loves it too. I have to admit that I have 'In the dark of the night evil will find her!' going round in my head on a pretty regular basis.

  8. I don't think there's anything more uplifting than the Disney intro!
The Anastasia songs are really catchy, the one I always end up singing is Rumour in St Petersburg! x
